LEMAIRE à SHANGHAI

LEMAIRE inaugurates its Wukang flagship in a quiet neighborhood of Shanghai’s historic Xuhui district. Located in a 1930s residence designed by Chinese architect Dong Dayou, the space preserves a domestic atmosphere across three floors while showcasing LEMAIRE’s collections, inviting visitors to discover garments and objects interwoven with cultural references, as if in a private interior.

This boutique marks LEMAIRE’s third project in this format, following those in Hannam, Seoul, and Ebisu, Tokyo. In dialogue with these two addresses, the Wukang flagship embodies a place of singular character. The restoration carefully preserved the balance between original architectural elements and new interventions. A Hispanic-inspired façade opens onto an interior that subtly blends Chinese vernacular language with European modernism.

Furniture from the Bossche School and the Viennese Secession sits alongside pieces by Enzo Mari and Carla Venosta, as well as objects sourced from local markets and restored by a Shanghai-based cabinetmaker. Ceramicist Li Qing created a series of pieces specially designed for the boutique. Intended for everyday use, these ceramics are placed in the kitchen.

The adjoining garden contributes to the regeneration of the space and extends the sense of serenity.

Wukang – Three Storeys is a series of soundscapes conceived for the Shanghai flagship store.
